"The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie is the 4th most visited museum in France (approximately 3 million visitors every year). The Cité houses several different activities having as an objective to "make accessible to all visitors new developments in science, technology and industrial know-how, as well as to participate in disseminating these to the regions of France and abroad". The Cité des sciences includes various areas such as: exhibitions, a Cité for children, a Congress centre, several Auditoriums, a Media Library which attracts one million readers per year with its various sections, a Cité des métiers (vocational guidance) on professional life… In order to bring science and technology closer to the people, the Cité des sciences has developed a programme offering a wide range of activities and actions oriented to the field of Education."

"The Educatio Public Utility Company is a background institution of the Hungarian Ministry of Education and Culture. The eLearning Directorate as a subdivision of the Educatio develops and operates services in public education on the fields of methodology and content development. It maintains the Sulinet educational portal and the Sulinet Digital Knowledge Base (SDT) which is the central learning content management system in Hungary. As a result of participating in several EUN projects such as CELEBRATE, MELT and ASPECT, as well as the European Commission's eTwinning initiative, Educatio intends to share its developments throughout the European Community."

"The EEPG (European Educational Publishers’ Group) is an association of 24 educational publishers in Europe. The concept of Learning Objects has been discussed among the members for some time. The EEPG is very interested in the LRE framework and the extent to which the association and its members can potentially exploit this for commercial purposes. Several members have already developed hundreds of Learning Objects and therefore wish to use the LRE as a platform for commercialisation on a European scale.

"FWU is Germany’s leading producer of audiovisual media for schools and other educational organisations. It was founded in 1950 as a non-profit corporation with the 16 German “Länder” (federal states) as shareholders. FWU produces educational video-films, didactic DVDs and learning software on CD-ROMs as well as internet applications. It keeps on stock resources for almost all school subjects and cross-area topics, as well as fictional movies for children and young people. All productions are accompanied by comprehensive handbooks for teachers and educators."

The NCTE operates a number of discrete initiatives within the organisation: Continuing Professional Development; Digital Content, Scoilnet; Technology Integration; Special Educational Needs; and Webwise."

OER Commons has forged alliances with over 120 content partners to provide a single point of access through which educators and learners can search across collections. Our partnership with the LRE aims to facilitate learning resource discoverability and engagement worldwide."

The Agency has the overall responsibility to support ICT development in schools: in-service training; access to digital learning resources; infrastructure and standards; safer use of Internet; school portal; cooperation - both national and international."

"The goal of the Tiger Leap Foundation (TLF), which is financed by the Ministry of Education, is to increase the quality of Estonian education with the support of ICT. During its earlier phase, TLF activities were related to developing the ICT infrastructure in schools and teachers' computer competences. Today we focus on e-learning skills, digital materials and learning environments. TLF is participating in LRE initiative because we would like to find new users for Estonian e-learning materials that 'travel well' and also to provide Estonian teachers with access to learning content from all over Europe."

"The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science (UL FRI) participates in the LRE / MELT project on behalf of the Slovenian Ministry of Education. We act as a content provider, because we are an active developer of educational materials for schools. The didactic materials are focused mostly on natural sciences and computer science. Our activities are supported by excellent cooperation with several national schools and enriched with cooperation within international networks like CoLoS (Conceptual Learning of Science) and HSci (Hands on Science). Our main aim within the LRE / MELT project is to enrich the developed and adapted learning objects with appropriate metadata and enable Slovenian schools to access high quality learning objects that can be easily and efficiently searched and retrieved."

"XTEC stands for "Xarxa Telemàtica Educativa de Catalunya", or Online Catalan Educational Network which covers all ICT aspects in Education in Catalonia. It is represented by its three portals/websites: XTEC, EDU365 and EDU3. XTEC is a portal for teachers, with teaching resources, tutorials, tools training courses and administrative procedures. EDU365 is a portal for students and families, with lots of applications, mini didactic units faqs and online tools, such as a word processor, web mail service, personal storage or a scientific calculator. EDU3 is the product of an agreement with the Catalan Public Television TV3, whereby all educational materials produced by TV3 are catalogued and can be streamed or downloaded by teachers. XTEC supports the LRE as part of its policy of cataloguing materials and disseminating them more widely to all teachers."
